Every Tuesday, 6:00 to 8:00 pm AZ time (8pm EST, 7pm CST)
Want to learn improv from the comfort of your home? Join Joe Hammer, founder of The Outcasters and author of The Improv Edge for online improv training classes! Join us via Zoom and “put your funny on” every Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes are open to everyone and no previous experience is required!
For just 10 bucks our online drop-in class will get you two hours of warm ups, games and improv comedy coaching. Joe teaches the principles of both short and long form improvisation. You’ll receive feedback and discover new improv techniques. There’s something new in every class.
Unlike many conventional online improv training classes, Joe delves into the core elements, principles and techniques of effective and comedic improv… not just fun games (altho we do that too!).
ACTORS looking to add improvisation skills to their toolbox. You’ll discover spontaneity that assures better auditions and more callbacks!
IMPROVISERS desiring a detail-centered approach to improv training that’s real, honest, grounded and FUN!
SPEAKERS who want to add form punch and confidence to their presentations.
BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS for team building, improved active listening and better communication skills.
ANYONE who is looking to be better at “thinking on their feet,” react and adapt to unexpected circumstances and stretch their sense of humor with like-minded people in a safe, fun environment!
You’ll discover that you don’t have to be (or invent something) to be funny, thus stripping away the pressure to be funny. Our classes are appropriate for both those new to improv as well as seasoned performers looking for a new approach.

“Improv class is one of the rare occasions in modern life where one is explicitly given permission to live entirely in the now. Improv is an invitation to forget about the future and be totally in the present.”
“Improv can be so many things – a vehicle for personal growth, a way to practice mindfulness, an opportunity to meet cool new people, a safe way to play, a tool for developing the skills of spontaneity and acceptance – but the bottom line is… it’s fun!”

As a perceptive chameleon, Banter recognizes the importance of being adaptable. Banter came to be the Outcasters’ mascot after trying to find a place to cool off from the blazing Arizona sun. He stumbled inside a drop-in improv class and, after seeing what The Outcasters were all about, he quickly realized he was home! Whether you’re an experienced improviser, just beginning your improv journey, or attending one of our shows, Banter invites you to join us!
