Our improv games will be familiar to anyone who has watched the hit TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? It’s all about thinking on our feet, making stuff up on the spot… and deeply hoping nobody realizes we’re flying by the seat of our pants! We not only invite audience members to suggest topics for our scenes, we sometimes even have them join us on stage for fun games and imaginative stories.
Our players are experienced in the local improv scene and offer a variety of classes, workshops, and improv shows throughout the year, performing regularly at local venues and private engagements.
Each of The Outcasters’ shows is a “World Premiere” that’s never been seen before and will never be seen again! The Outcasters train weekly in Scottsdale, Arizona, and we welcome you to join us for a class or show. C’mon, flex your creative muscles and join us as we make stuff up!

Joe Hammer
The Outcasters was founded by improv director and communication coach Joe Hammer, who has spent decades presenting personal and business development seminars and entertainment programs. Joe is the author of two books, The Improv Edge and Blank to Brilliant, and brings high-impact training from Magnet Theater, Upright Citizens Brigade, and Impro Theatre to every class and workshop.
Joe’s training includes work with fellow improv authors Mick Napier of The Annoyance Theater and Will Hines of UCB. His classes go beyond simple improv games, teaching practical, constructive principles of both short and long-form improvisation, all while giving students ample stage time, personalized coaching, and considerate feedback.
The Outcasters Team of Super Humans
We’re proud of our amazing improv troupe! We’re committed to practicing the art of improvisation, with intensive coaching and a plethora of engaging games. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of talents to the stage, and there’s never a dull moment when The Outcasters are around.
By day, they’re anything from teachers to data engineers, yoga instructors to business consultants. By night, they become the Outcasters Team of Super Humans, saving everyone from boring evenings by bringing laughter into their lives! Our shows always feature our core troupe as well as special guest improvisers: students who have shown strong abilities in their improv skills.
We hope you’ll get to know us personally at one of our shows or by dropping in for an improv class. Classes are held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at 8360 E Raintree Drive, Suite #110 in Scottsdale. It’s the best $20 you’ll spend for a night out!
