Kudos from Joe Hammers clients!

All classes are conducted in a fun, safe environment by Joe Hammer, founder of The Outcasters and author of The Improv Edge. and Blank To Brilliant. The Outcasters training includes both long and short form improv. Classes are open to anyone 18 or older. (Youth class interest? Click here).

There is no prior acting or comedy experience required to start training with us; we’ll teach you everything you need to know! Should they desire, students who continue in our training classes are eligible to participate in our performance ensembles. Classes are held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We start and end on time. Doors close at 6:05, so don’t be late! Late arrivals are disruptive to the class so please plan on arriving at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Meet the Outcasters' Chameleon Mascot, Banter!

banter peek

As a perceptive chameleon, Banter recognizes the importance of being adaptable. Banter came to be the Outcasters’ mascot after trying to find a place to cool off from the blazing Arizona sun. He stumbled inside a drop-in improv class and, after seeing what The Outcasters were all about, he quickly realized he was home! Whether you’re an experienced improviser, just beginning your improv journey, or attending one of our shows, Banter invites you to join us!
